Fraud Alert

Debit Card Fraud & Protection Alert

In the past week, we have seen a significant increase in debit card fraud. In an effort to combat this activity PHCU has implemented some strict new rules until the fraudulent activity subsides. Please take a minute to read the information below so you'll know how to access the funds in your account.

Effective immediately, PHCU has temporarily blocked all out-of-state signature based (credit) transactions. This means that all debit card transactions outside of South Carolina are restricted to PIN-based transactions only. You should be able to use your card at an ATM or merchant in any state as long as you enter your PIN. If your signature-based transaction is declined at a merchant location (in any state), please try it as a PIN-based transaction (enter your PIN as part of the transaction.)

If you experience any problems using your debit card please call (803) 978-2101 from 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. or (833) 462-0798 after hours

Your PHCU Accounts are Secure

Please know that your PHCU account information is secure, and there has been no compromise on the security that PHCU has in place. It appears that the recent increase in fraudulent activity is a result of illegal skimmers being placed on card readers in our local area.

If your card was possibly compromised in the recent events, we will notify you by mail and a new debit card will be issued to you.  If you notice fraudulent activity on your account, please contact us immediately at (803) 978-2101 or (833) 462-0798 after hours
