Slate of Officers for 2018

The Board appointed nominating committee has provided the Board Secretary with it's final list of Board and Supervisory Committee Candidates, which are listed below.

Election ballots will be mailed to members with their December statements. Members enrolled in eStatements will receive their ballots in the mail in early January, 2018.  

Ballots must be received by the credit union on or before February 1, 2018, to be counted. You may vote for up to 3 Board of Directors candidates and two Supervisory Committee candidates. Please return your ballot in the envelope provided. Ballots received after February 1, 2018 will not be considered.

Election results will be presented at the annual meeting on Tuesday, February 6, 2018.

Board of Directors Slate

Pamela Burgess- Pamela began her tenure at Richland Memorial Hospital on November 27, 1972.  She has served in many capacities in the hospital including Ward Clerk, Secretary in Social Work and Discharge Planning, Heart Center Liaison in Admissions, and Patient Flow Coordinator/Administrative Associate in Radiology.

Pamela has been a member of PHCU since May 1984 when the branch was located on the first floor of the hospital near Security.  The Credit Union outgrew that location and was moved to 9 Medical Park.  After moving to the new location, she was appointed to serve as a member of the Loan Committee by Brian Jowers who served as the Board Chairman.  She was later elected to serve as Chair of the Loan Committee.  That Committee was later dissolved and then Pamela became a Board Member.  Currently Pamela serves as a Board Member and enjoys the opportunity of being an advocate for Members of the Credit Union.  She has served on the Member Election Committee, the Nominations Committee, and the Facilities Committee.  If re-elected, Pamela stated, "I will continue to provide the best leadership by helping to grow our Membership, keeping our Members informed and educated on their finances, and by keeping our Credit Union fiscally sound."

Charlene Cathcart- Charlene, Director of Patient Access Services, has more than thirty (30) years of experience in the Patient Access Services and Patient Billing Services with Palmetto Health.  She is responsible for directing the financial operations in patient registration for all points of entry at Palmetto Health Richland, Palmetto Health Baptist, and Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge.

Charlene received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Presbyterian College.   She served as the President of South Carolina Association of Hospital Access Management and the Chair of the Board of Directions for Palmetto Health Credit Union.

Fay Ann Parker-Brown- Fay is a Laboratory Manager at Palmetto Health with over thirty (30) years of experience in Laboratory Services and Laboratory Administration.  Areas of expertise are Microbiology, Molecular Pathology, Safety, Infection Control, Epidemiology and Education.  Her educational background includes a BS degree in Biology from South Carolina State University, a BS in Medical Technology from the Medical University of South Carolina and an MBA from Winthrop University.

Fay is an active member of the American Society for Microbiology and several other societies.  She also serves as a Laboratory Inspector for the College of American Pathologists.  She served as treasurer and fund raiser for different school organizations and her church.  She has been married to Charles Brown, a CPA and Assistant Controller, for thirty-two (32) years and has two lovely daughters that reside in Atlanta.

Eureka Robertson, LMSW- Eureka is the Manager of Ancillary Applications in the Information Technology department at Palmetto Health.  Her responsibilities include:  She manages a team of 8 and her areas of responsibility include Lab, Pharmacy, Rehab, Respiratory and Nutrition Eureka has worked in healthcare for 22 years, with the majority of those years being in the field of Healthcare IT. She received a Master of Social Work degree and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of South Carolina.  She has been employed with Palmetto Health since 1994 following an internship during graduate school.  In addition to her work, Eureka is an inaugural member of the Standards of Behavior team and is a volunteer with Palmetto Health's foundation and serves as Vice Chair on the Palmetto Health Credit Union Board of Directors.

She is a member of Brookland Baptist Church where she serves with the Brookland Foundation's Homeless Outreach Ministry. She serves on the board of the Black Alumni Council of the My Carolina Alumni Association and other community involvement through her sorority and love of service.

Eureka originally hails from Greenville, SC but has lived in Irmo since graduation from USC in 1988. She has one daughter, Aria who is a junior accounting major at USC.

Supervisory Committee Slate

Nancy B. McLendon-  Nancy is a graduate of Columbia College where she received her bachelors in Communication and Business Administration.  She worked at Palmetto Health from January 1990 until July 2007 (1996-2007 as Benefits Manager), Human Resources Manager at Richardson Plowden & Robinson from 2007-2012, 2016-2017, Sr. Benefits Manager at Agfirst Farm Credit Bank from May 2012 until December 2015.  Nancy is currently pursuing her own sewing business, The Swan Sewster. 

Nancy served on the PHCU Supervisory Committee, two years as Vice Chair and Chair from 2009- 2010.  She also served on the PHCU Board of Directors from 2010-2012. 

Susan Ferrell- Susan Ferrell, Director, Performance & Analytics, is responsible for the financial analysis and process improvement supporting Palmetto Health Operations.  Susan has been with Palmetto Health for 10 years and is a graduate of Winthrop University, where she earned a BS in Accounting and a Master's in Business. 

Susan has over 30 years' experience in Finance related positions across several industries including Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals.  She holds a Six Sigma Green Belt certification.  Susan has served as a member of the PHCU Supervisory Committee since 2014.
